The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres face off on Sunday at Dodger Stadium as they close out their 2015 MLB regular season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have closed out the National League West but they are looking to close out the season with positive momentum as they beat the Padres on Saturday. Justin Turner hit a home run and Yasiel Puig and Howie Kendrick had hits as the Dodgers scored two runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Zack Greinke allowed four hits and a run while striking out eight over 8.0 innings to finish the season at 19-3. For Sunday’s game the Dodgers start Clayton Kershaw who has allowed 161 hits and 55 earned runs while striking out 294 over 229 innings for a 16-7 record and a 2.16 ERA.

The San Diego Padres had high hopes coming into the season but they will close it out with a losing record that got worse on Saturday losing to the Dodgers. Austin hedges hit a home run and Yangervis Solarte and Jedd Gyorko each had hits as the Padres scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Robbie Erlin allowed five hits and two runs while striking out four over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-2 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Padres start James Shields who has allowed 189 hits and 81 earned runs while striking out 216 over 202.1 innings for a 13-7 record and a 3.91 ERA.
Los Angeles is 65-29 in their last 94 home games, 22-10 in game three of a series, and 39-16 in Kershaw’s last 55 starts. San Diego is 4-11 in their last 15 road games, 1-4 on the road against a left handed starter, and 0-7 in Shields’ last seven starts against a team with a winning record. San Diego is 1-5 in their last six games against Los Angeles.
