The Texas Rangers host the Los Angeles Angels in the final game of the season on Sunday
The Los Angeles Angels are playing their best baseball of the year and the season could have run out on them. A five run 9th inning rally gave the Angels an 11-10 win at Texas on Saturday. Starter Hector Santiago allowed five runs (three earned) before Mike Morin and Mat Latos gave up a pair of runs each. The offense hammered out 17 hits and walked four times with Erick Aybar and Kole Calhoun each slamming long balls while Carlos Perez and Johnny Giavotella combined for five RBI’s and a run each. The Angels are scheduled to send Nicholas Tropeano to the bump for the start on Sunday. Tropeano has gone 3-2 in seven starts with a 1.33 WHIP and 3.82 ERA.

The Texas Rangers might be fortunate the season isn’t any longer with the Astros and Angels right on their heels. The Rangers lost a chance to wrap up the American League West with Saturday’s defeat where the pitching struggled. Starter Colby Lewis was charged with five runs through four innings before Shawn Tolleson and Ross Ohlendorf gave up five runs in the 9th. The Rangers racked up 13 hits and walked three times with Josh Hamilton clubbing two solo jacks with Rougned Odor went deep and drove in two. Adrian Beltre knocked in three and Shin-Soo Choo drove in two more as every starter but one reached base. Left hander Cole Hamels toes the rubber in the final game of year against the visiting Angels. In eleven starts with the Rangers Hamels has gone 6-1 with a 3.86 ERA.

Texas are 26-9 in their last 35 home games and the under is 46-18-3 in their last 67 Sunday games while the over is 12-5-2 in their last 19 overall. The Angels are 15-3 in the last 18 meetings in Texas and the over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings in Texas. I’m going with the Angels to finish the sweep for now with Richards possibly starting…
