The Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals play a deciding game five in the ALDS Wednesday night.
The Houston Astros hope to advance to their first championship series since the 2005 season. The Astros have to be feeling sick after blowing a four-run lead in just one inning in game four. It will be interesting to see how this young Houston team bounces back. The Astros bullpen really choked Monday afternoon and spoiled a solid outing from Lance McCullers. Offensively, Carlos Correa and Colby Rasmus have combined for 14 hits and 10 RBI while George Springer has three postseason RBI. Collin McHugh gets the nod, and he’s 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA and one strikeout this postseason. This is McHugh’s second career game against the Royals.

The Kansas City Royals look to return to the ALCS after a World Series run last season. The Royals have to be on cloud nine after Monday’s comeback and will return to a nasty home crowd. The Royals have six different pitchers this postseason with at least five strikeouts. Offensively, Ben Zobrist leads Kansas City with six hits, Eric Hosmer has four RBI and Kendrys Morales has homered twice. The Royals have won six straight games when scoring at least four runs. Johnny Cueto takes the hill, and he’s 0-0 with a 6.00 ERA and five strikeouts this postseason. Cueto is 3-6 with a 3.64 ERA and 58 strikeouts in his career against the Astros.
I had the Astros winning this series, but I'm honestly not sure how Houston bounces back from that game four loss. The Astros were celebrating and just six outs away from advancing. Maybe the youth helps Houston rebound and put things in the past quickly, but I'm not counting on it.
I like Cueto on the mound and think the Royals take advantage of an extra life and find a way to advance in front of their home fans.
