The New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers play a deciding game five of the NLDS Thursday night.
The New York Mets have a chance to advance to their first NLCS since the 2006 season. The New York Mets pitching staff has really been getting it done this series, as they’ve allowed no more than five runs in three of the four games. The Mets have four different pitchers with at least five strikeouts and they’ve won 12 of their last 16 games when allowing three or less runs. Offensively, Curtis Granderson leads New York with six hits, Yoenis Cespedes has four RBI and Daniel Murphy has homered twice. The Mets have won 10 of their last 14 road games. Jacob deGrom gets the nod, and he’s 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 13 strikeouts this postseason.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to advance to their fourth NLCS since the 2008 season. The Dodgers pitching staff is coming off a game four victory in which they allowed just one run and three hits. The Dodgers have 46 strikeouts in this series and have won 13 of their last 16 games when allowing three or less runs. Offensively, Justin Turner leads Los Angeles with seven hits, Adrian Gonzalez has five RBI and Enrique Hernandez has drawn two walks. The Dodgers have won six of their last seven home games. Zack Greinke takes the hill, and he’s 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA and eight strikeouts this postseason.
The Mets are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 5 of a series and 9-1 in deGroms last 10 road starts. The Dodgers are 7-3 in their last 10 playoff home games and 7-2 in their last 9 Divisional Playoff home games. The over is 18-7-2 in the last 27 meetings.
This is a toss-up game in my eyes, as these are both aces on the hill and should pitch most of the game for better or for worse. However, the Dodgers had zero success against deGrom when he pitched in Los Angeles. None. Nada. We all know what Greinke is capable of and he didn't have a bad outing at all when he faced the Mets.
But I loved what I saw from deGrom and think he's more than capable of doing it again with his electric stuff.
