The New York Mets head to Dodger Stadium for game five of the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The New York Mets missed out on a golden opportunity to knock off the visiting Dodgers and advance to the NLCS but could not generate enough offense against Clayton Kershaw in a 3-1 defeat in game four Tuesday night. This wasn’t a great spot for rookie hurler Steven Matz who was charged with all three runs on six hits and a pair of bases on balls through six innings to absorb the loss. The offense never got going against Clayton Kershaw and finished with three hits and three walks with Daniel Murphy connecting on his second homer of the series. The Mets send game one winner Jacob deGrom to secure a trip to the NLCS on Thursday. DeGrom defeated the Dodgers 3-1 with five scoreless innings and 13 strikeouts in seven frames.

The Los Angeles Dodgers came through in the clutch to defeat the Mets in game four and return home for the decisive game five on Thursday. Starter Clayton Kershaw was at his best with a solo homer surrendered over seven innings while striking out eight to pick up the victory. The Dodgers offense logged seven hits and walked twice with Justin Turner smacking a two run double while Adrian Gonzalez singled in a run and scored. Zack Greinke toes the rubber for the second time against the Mets in the NLDS. Greinke won game two by a 5-2 count with both runs plated on solo homers over seven innings.
The over is 25-7 in New York’s last 32 road games and the Mets are 20-6 in their last 26 road games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 on grass. Los Angeles are 8-2 in their last 10 Thursday games and are 6-2 in their last 8 overall while going 6-2 in their last 8 games on grass. The over is 18-7-2 in the last 27 meetings. I don’t see an advantage on the mound but deGrom has won at Los Angeles…
