The Kansas City Royals look for a 3-0 lead in the ALCS with a win at the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.
The Kansas City Royals have the look of a World Series squad after a five run rally in the 7th erased a 3-0 hole on the way to a 6-3 victory and a 2-0 series lead heading to Toronto. Starter Yordano Ventura looked average once again with three runs given up on eight hits and a pair of BB through 5.1 frames before four relievers closed the door on the Blue Jays offense. The Royals did their damage on eight hits with Mike Moustakas going 2-4 with two RBI’s and a run. Alex Gordon knocked in a run and scored with Eric Hosmer knocking in a run an two runs scored. The Royals turn to Johnny Cueto for the start in game three at the Rogers Centre in game three. Cueto was at his best in a 7-2 win at Houston in the ALDS in the clincher with both runs plated on two hits including a homer over eight frames.

The Toronto Blue Jays appeared to be heading for a series tying win in game five before imploding in the 7th inning on the way to an 0-2 series hole. The Jays have to be concerned with David Price who was charged with five runs on six hits through 6.2 frames to absorb the loss. The offense totaled ten hits and three walks with Edwin Encarnacion, Troy Tulowitzki and Ryan Goins driving in runs with all but one starter reaching base. The Blue Jays send Marcus Stroman to the mound for the game three start versus Kansas City. In two games against Houston in the ALDS Stroman gave up five earned runs on eleven hits in 13 innings.
I’m not of the belief that trends are something to lean on and game both games in this series seemed to favor the Blue Jays and we know how that turned out. David Price was unbeatable down the stretch and has been disappointing in the postseason. I give the Royals the edge once again in game three if the real Cueto is on the mound but I’ll update…
