The New York Mets look for a commanding lead in the NLCS with a win at the Chicago Cubs in game three.
The New York Mets have taken advantage of the home field to take a 2-0 lead in the NLCS behind another strong performance on the mound and some big hits in the first inning of a 4-1 victory against the visiting Cubs. Starter Noah Syndergaard held the big bats of Chicago to a rub on three hits with nine strikeouts over 5.2 frames to pick up the win while four relievers gave up a hit the rest of the way. The offense rode a five hit, two walk attack with Daniel Murphy going deep and driving in two with David Wright drove in a run and scored while Cutis Granderson scored twice.Jacob deGrom toes the rubber for the third time in the postseason when he opposes the Cubs. In two starts versus the Dodgers in the NLDS DeGrom has allowed two runs over 13 innings.

The Chicago Cubs appeared to be poised for a win in game two of the NLCS at Citi Field to even the series heading back to Chicago but the offense stalled and Cy Young candidate Jake Arrieta struggled. The Chicago ace was charged with all four runs on four hits and a pair of bases on balls while whiffing eight through five frames with three relievers tossing one hit baseball the rest of the way. The Cubbies managed five hits and a walk that saw Kris Bryant drive in Dexter Fowler with a 6th inning run. The Cubs look for their first win in the NLCS when Kyle Hendricks takes the mound in game three. Hendricks faced the Cardinals once in the NLDS and came away with a ND in a 6-3 win with three runs plated on three homers in 4.2 frames.
