The New York Mets have had an almost business like approach to the postseason as in they didn’t get too high or low in Los Angeles when having to face Greinke and Kershaw two times each in the NLDS which is the worse scenario for most teams. Then playing a Cubs squad that looked like they won the World series when defeating St Louis before the Mets simply ignored all the supposed Chicago momentum and swept the Cubbies in the NLCS. From what I have seen the New Yorkers have a pitching staff as good as any team in the game and a roster that comes through with big hits when needed which is what wins championships. New York begins the World Series with Matt Harvey on the mound for his first ever meeting with the Royals. In the 2015 postseason Harvey has allowed four runs on eleven hits over 12.2 frames.
The Kansas City Royals will be appearing in back to back World series and are hoping the experience they garnered in losing to San Francisco in 2014 pays dividends. The return to the Fall Classic wasn’t exactly a piece of cake as KC defeated Houston 3-1 and outscored the Astros 23-16 so the pitching wasn’t outstanding but the offense was. The work on the mound was a worry heading to Toronto to face the potent offense of the Blue jays in the ALCS where many thought the Royals playoff run would end. However, Kansas City was the better team on the mound and at the plate in winning the series 4-2 where the Jays were outscored 29-8 in their four defeats. The Royals seem to be able to turn things on when needed. As for the opener I would really like to see who the game one starter is so please check back for a pick.
