The San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers play game two of their series Tuesday night.
The San Francisco Giants are coming off a 12-3 opening day victory in which they put together 15 hits and didn’t allow a run in the final six innings. Brandon Belt leads the Giants with three hits, Matt Duffy has four RBI and Buster Posey has a homerun. It’s an even year, so most expected the San Francisco Giants to be good this season, but their opening day win was the most impressive so far for any other team in the majors. The Giants can only hope Monday’s win isany indication of things to come this season. Johnny Cueto gets the ball, and he was 11-13 with a 3.44 ERA and 176 strikeouts last season. Cueto is 9-3 with a 2.87 ERA and 100 strikeouts in his career against the Brewers.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored a run in each of the first three innings, but couldn’t stop the Giants avalanche of offense in order to stay in the game. Domingo Santana leads the Brewers with two hits, Scooter Gennett has one RBI and Jonathan Villar has a homerun. This is expected to be a rebuilding year for the Milwaukee Brewers, but opening day at home was far worse than anybody could have expected. The Brewers can only hope they can have a bounce back performance before this season really gets away from them before it even starts. Jimmy Nelson takes the hill, and he was 11-13 with a 4.11 ERA and 148 strikeouts last season. This will be Nelson’s second career game against the Giants.
The Giants are 32-15 in their last 47 during game 2 of a series and 1-4 in their last 5 road games vs. a right-handed starter. The Brewers are 2-6 in their last 8 during game 2 of a series and 4-1 in Nelsons last 5 home starts. The Giants are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Milwaukee and 8-1 in the last 9 meetings overall.
It's only one game, but I'm not sure how anybody can back the Brewers after what they saw Monday. It was awful. The Giants are simply the better team here and have an ace on the hill. I'll take San Fran for another win and the cheap price.
