The Seattle Mariners will try to bounce back from an opening day defeat when they face the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
The Seattle Mariner's Hisashi Iwakuma will take the ball to the mound and will look to continue his recent domination of the Texas Rangers. Iwakuma has gone 8-3 in his last eleven decisions against Seattle's AL West opponents and will want to make that 9-3 on Tuesday. Seattle lost on opening day for the first time in nine years when Felix Hernandez was out pitched by Cole Hamels in a game that finished 3-2. Hernandez was unexpectedly sloppy with his pitches walking five in six innings but giving up just one hit on the day, to say it was a strange game would be an understatement. Texas managed to score before they had even registered a hit and then only managed one hit in the game. One of the positives for the Mariners though was that both Cano and Seager homered off Hamels and Cano looks like a guy ready to get back to his best. The Seattle Mariners are going to be a team to be reckoned with this season if they can get more from the support cast around Felix Hernandez and I personally think Iwankuma gives the team a great chance to win any time he takes the mound.

For the Texas Rangers the most important thing was the result. The Rangers built around a good performance from Cole Hamels who pitched seven innings giving up just four hits although two were home runs. The Rangers now look to Martin Perez who struggled at times when he returned from injury in July of last season. In fourteen starts Perez went 3-6 with an ERA of 4.22 not the stuff of aces. Texas somehow came away fromh their opening game with a win after Prince Fielder got their only hit of the game and the team showed good discipline at the plate taking six walks. This is a pretty balanced side with experience in the form of Adrian Beltre and Prinze Fielder and youth in Delino Deshields, Roughned Odor and of course the pitcher Perez.
Again I think the oddsmakers have the line inverted here. I dont like Perez against this Seattle line up and I am going to take Seattle to level the series here. I personally like Iwakuma against the Texas line up as well and think that we are getting great value here on the away side.
