The Baltimore Orioles and Minnesota Twins resume their series on Wednesday as the O’s look to build on their 3-2 victory on Monday.
The Minnesota Twins look for their first win of the season on Wednesday night as they take on the Orioles at Camden Yards and will need to salvage more than the two runs they managed in their season opener to beat a Baltimore side that can put up runs with the best of them. Minnesota isn’t expected to do a whole lot this season as they continue to rebuild but they do have some nice pieces in place as the likes of Miguel Sano, Brian Dozier, and Trevor Plouffe has some solid pop, and while the rotation isn’t great they do have a nice closer in Glen Perkins who can shut a game down if Minny is in the lead late. Minnesota is 6-2 in their last 8 contests against the American League but are just 3-7 in their last 10 contests following a loss dating back to last season and with Kyle Gibson going to the mound against a solid hitting Orioles side they could be in trouble again here.

The Orioles will counter with newcomer Yovani Gallardo who made his presence felt in Kansas City’s World Series run last year and will be leaned on as one of the top arms in an otherwise underwhelming Baltimore rotation. The O’s have a very dangerous lineup in terms of power and while they may very well lead the league in strikeouts this season they will live and die by the long ball and with so many guys able to put the ball out of the park they are never really out of a game. Baltimore is led of course by Chris Davis, Adam Jones, and Manny Machado and are joined by newest slugger Mark Trumbo who is looking for a bounce back season after a disappointing campaign for the Diamondbacks last year. The O’s have been terrible against the Twins of late though as Minnesota has taken 9 of the last 10 meetings and are 5-1 in Baltimore in their last 6 trips which makes the value here intriguing. However, the O’s usually fare well at Camden Yards and you can’t ignore their power and in a game that could very well end up being a home run derby I will lean towards the home side.
