The Philadelphia Phillie will finish up a three game Series agains the Cincinnati reds at the Great American Ball Park on Thursday.
After acquiring Charlie Morton via trade the Phillies got themselves a decent pitcher who has plenty of experience at the Great American Ball Park and is 4-2 in nine starts against Cinci. The Phillies went close in game two of this series, losing a 2-1 lead in the ninth to lose 3-2. Philly and Cinci are in the midst of rebuilding and Philly's pitching has been decimated. While Philly have some good young bats in their line up and Mikel Frainco flashed glimpses of his power with a two run home on Wednesday night I think that the balance in the side is just not there at the moment and this is something that is simply going to take time for the Philly's to develop. Frainco is one of the best propects in the major's and is expected to be a cornerstone of the Philly franchise for years to come it will be interesting to see how he and some of the other youngsters in the Philly's set up progress this year.
The Reds traded away their present in the off season with Todd Frazer, Aroldis Chapman both leaving. The Reds are a hard team to figure out , they had a relatively decent spring training and opened up the season with a win against Philly. Of course the Philadelphia pitching is rated the worst in the league this season so if Cinci are going to win a series it's going to be this one and when Cinci came from behind in the ninth on Wednesday it really wasnt a surprise, the only surprise perhaps was how long it took Cinci to get into the lead. With an offence that looks like it will produce runs in the form of Zack Cozart, Jay Bruce and Joey Votto along with base path speedster Billy Hamilton I think Cinci look likely to get another win here although Morton on the mound for Philly does give the visitors a chance.
Philly are 1-6 against a starter with a WHIP less that 1.15. Phily are 7-19 in their last 26 against the NL Central. Philly are 29-64 in their last 93 Road games.
Over is 4-0 in Philly last 4 NL Central. Over is 7-1 in last 8 red against Nl East. Over is 5-1 in Reds last 6 of game 3 of a series.
Not much value in taking the home team here though as the price is just too prohibitive especially given how tough Philly played on Wednesday night. Looking at the recent head to heads I think the overs looks a really solid play as the Overs is 7-1 in the two teams meetings of late.
