With Kansas City traveling to Minute Maid Park for the Houston Astro's home opener this one promises to be an intruging encounter between two teams who expect to compete for the American League title.
The Kansas City Royals are 4-1 after the opening week and the World Champs will be looking to continue their strong form in this their first away series of the season. The Royals got it done last year with decent starting pitching, a terrific bull pen and scrappy hitting, the team has continued to impress with their work ethic and grittyness and the Royals are going to be tough to get the better of again this season. Chris Young took the start in the Royals only loss this season a 2-0 loss to the Mets in a game that the Royals easily could have won. Young was stellar in his opening game giving up just three hits and two runs over five innings but that was enough for the Mets to get the win and earn Young the loss. Young will look to continue the same standard of pitching against a Houston team who have some big bats in their line up.

The Houston Astros will open their first home series of the season against the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year. The Astros will go with Colin McHugh on the mound, McHugh won 19 games last season but lasted just 0.1 of an inning giving up 3 hits, 2 walks and 5 Earned runs for an ERA of 135. Obviously that is a little bit of an outlier for McHugh but the Yankees hit him hard in that game two loss and the Astro's will be hoping for a completely different pitcher on Monday night. The Astro's ace Dallas Kuechel lost a thriller to the Brewers on Sunday and overall the Astro's pitching staff has not been great with Kuechel's 3.55 ERA the leader in the club house at the moment. What the Astro's do have going for them though is some hot bats with Tyler White hitting .556 with 3 HR and 9 RBI's in six starts, Carlos Correa is also hot at the moment hitting over .300 with 3 HR's. Overall the Astro's bats are going to take some stopping but they are playing a great Kansas City team who should never be under estimated.
The Over is 5-1-0 in Astros games this season , The Astros's are in 7-2 Mchugh's last 9 starts, Under is 6-0-1 in Astros last 7 games vs a winning team with a % above .600.
The under is 5-0 in the Royals last 5, Under is 7-0 in Royals last 7 game 1 of a series, Royals are 5-1 in Young's last 6 starts
While there is definitely runs in both teams I think the Under line here is set a little high, in general Chris Young doesnt give up much and even though Colin McHugh got hammered in his opener I fully expect the Astro's pitcher to bounce back here and dont think there will be many runs on the board by the ninth inning here.
