The Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals continue their series in the Nation’s Capitol.
If you are an Atlanta Braves fan the one though on your mind is winning a game and then hope to string a few together. It didn’t happen on Tuesday with the offense failing to generate enough support for their pitching. Starter Jhoulys Chacin threw six scoreless frames and struck out eight with Jim Johnson allowing a pair of 8th inning runs on two hits and a BB to absorb the loss. The Bravos totaled six hits and walked four times with Kelly Johnson doubling in Gordon Beckham who had also doubled in the 9th. The Braves are looking for a big rebound from Matt Wisler in his second start of 2016. Wisler comes off of a 7-4 defeat to St. Louis with four runs given up on seven hits in 6.2 innings.

The Washington Nationals are off to a solid start although it doesn’t always loo easy. Tuesday was another one of those games where the Nats barely squeezed out the win. Starter Gio Gonzalez tossed a three hit shutout over six frames with four relievers holding the Atlanta offense at bay until the 9th to make the Nationals squirm. The offense managed eight hits and a bases on balls with Bryce Harper ripping a two run double in the 8th that scored Anthony Rendon and Stephen Drew. Stephen Strasburg opens the season with his second straight start versus Atlanta. Strasburg defeated the Braves 3-1 on six hits and a trio of BB over six innings of work.
Atlanta are 11-42 in their last 53 road games and are 3-10 in their last 13 Wednesday games and the over is 18-6-2 in their last 26 road games. The under is 9-2-1 in Washington last 12 overall and the under is 9-2-1 in their last 12 on grass while the over is 27-9-4 in their last 40 home games. Atlanta are 7-21 in their last 28 meetings. I don’t like this play all that much so tread lightly…
