The Kansas City Royals look for their second win in as many nights as they face off against the AL West favourites in the Houston Astros in Texas on Thursday night.
The Kansas City Royals are looking as dangerous as ever to start the 2016 MLB season and are playing the part of defending champions quite well as they are 5-2 through their first seven games and have gotten some pretty stellar efforts across the board. It is no secret that the Royals’ bullpen is among the league’s best and if they can get a lead into the latter stages of a ballgame they are the closest thing to a lock as their gets in pro sports as they have a platoon of nasty pitchers who have a knack for closing out games. The Royals are expected to send newcomer Ian Kennedy to the bump as he looks for his second win of the season as he will go up against Doug FIster who also got a win in his first outing, though carries a 5.40 ERA.
USA TODAY Sports
The Astros have been considered by many to be among a handful of teams in the American League considered as contenders to win the pennant but a modest 3-4 start has a couple of question marks coming to the forefront despite the season being seven games old. Houston has a pretty potent offense and did suffer a loss on the Chase Utley rule but as mentioned we are in the very elementary stages of the season and nobody for better or worse can judge the season so far in such a small sample size. Houston is 31-13 in their last 44 starts against a right handed pitcher and 47-21 in their last 68 home games, while the Royals are 35-16 in their last 51 against the AL West and 20-6 in their last 26 on grass which should set up a very exciting encounter in a potential preview of the ALCS. KC got the best of the Astros last night but I anticipate the tables turning here as the Astros need a confidence boosting victory and should get a better effort out of Fister.
