After the best start in franchise history, the Washington Nationals travel to Citizen Bank Park to take on a Philadelphia Phillies.
On Thursday the Philadelphia Phillies got a tremendous effort from starting pitcher Vince Velasquez who struck out sixteen in a three hit shutout against the Padres. Friday the Phillies will turn to Jeremy Hellickson who has pitched very well this season in two starts Hellickson has only given out six hits and three runs (2 earned), Hellickson struggled last season in Arizona but looks to be a good pick up for a Philadelphia team in rebuild mode. Maikel Franco, Caesar Hernandez are off to hot starts both hitting above .300 and with Ryan Howard providing some pop there is a chance this solid start to the season is more than that. There will be questions about the Phillies starting pitching but with the aformentioned Velasquez and veterans Charlie Morton, Hellickson and Aaron Nola this side could prove to be tough to beat this year.

On Froday the red hat Nationals will hand the ball off to Joe Ross who has been stellar in his time with the big club. Ross sports a 8k/9 and doesnt give up much in terms of long balls giving up less than one per 9 innings. With Ross only giving up one run on five hits in his season opener there will be optimism in the Nationals clubhouse that he can be that fifth starter. The Washington Nationals have now won five in a row and on Thursday Bryce Harper hit his 100th home run of his career , a grand slam at that. With the Nationals line up absolutely smashing the ball right now all the pitching needs to do is not implode and this team has a chance to win. Many questioned Washington's Daniel Murphy signing in the off season but Muprhy has been simply outstanding and is hitting over .400 in fact he is at .480 for the season. Wilson Ramos is also hitting over .400 and the team as a while is finding the right hits at the right time. Harper's current batting average is down but the reigning MVP has already had game winning hits this season with just eight games in. If Jayson Werth and Danny Espinosa can start finding some hits then this team are going to be very difficult to beat.
Nationals are 6-1 in last 7 against Philly, Nationals are 5-1 last 6 on the road, the Under is 7-0-1 in Nationals last 8 road games.
Phillys are 4-1 in last five, Philly's are 0-4 in last 4 game 1, Under is 9-0 in last 9 home games against a team with a winning % above .600.
With both pitchers looking impressive this season it's tough to go against the under here but with that said we also have two very strong hitting rosters and I think that the Nationals have been very impressive so far and are going to be tough to stop.. I'm taking the Nationals against the run line.
