The Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees will conclude a three game series on Sunday at Yankee Stadium.
The Seattle Mariners have won three games in a row for the first time this season and will have gained some confidence from their improved offense. The Seattle Mariners will hand the ball to Hisashi Iwakuma on Sunday. In two starts this season Iwakuma has given up fourteen hits and five runs for a 4.09 ERA. Iwakuma ended up taking the loss in his last outing but that was more due to the lack of run support than a poor effort by him. The Mariners lineup has not been good this season but over the last three games it has gotten better and they have been producing more runs and hits. Chris Iannetta currently leads the Mariners batting .320. Robinson Cano has hit 5 home runs and has 9 RBI’s but is batting just .214. Kyle Seager is having some real issues making contact and he is currently batting just .132 with one home run.

The New York Yankees will have their ace Masahiro Tanaka on the mound on Sunday. Tanaka will be looking to continue his strong start to the season as he has given up just seven hits and four runs with 10 strikeouts in 10.2 innings pitched. The Yankees have lost four in a row and will be looking to get a win to stop the slump. Brian McCann is hitting .385 on the season. Starlin Castro is batting .302 and he has nine RBI’s and Carlos Beltran had a huge day at the plate on Saturday going 4-for-5 with 2 doubles and a solo home run. Alex Rodriguez is struggling at the plate going 3-for-25 with one home run and two RBI’s but Rodriguez needs to step up and get the hits to give the team a chance to win some games.
The Mariners are 4-1 in their last 5 road games, 4-0 in Iwakuma’s last four starts against the AL East and 20-8 in Iwakuma’s last 28 road starts.
The Yankee’s are 5-1 in their last six Sunday games, 1-4 in Tanaka’s last five starts and 1-6 in Tanaka’s last seven home starts.
The Yankees are in the midst of a slump and even with Tanaka on the mound -150 just seems too short a price to me. With both Iwakuma and Tanaka impressing this season I think the under is the play here as both line up’s are going to have trouble getting to the starters.
