The San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Tuesday in game two of the NL West MLB series.
The San Francisco Giants let a good size lead get away on Monday as they fell to the Diamondbacks in extra innings. Joe Panik hit a home run, Angel Pagan had three hits, and Buster Posey was among three Giants with two hits each as the Giants scored seven runs on 13 hits in the loss. Starting pitcher Jake Peavy allowed seven hits and four runs over 5.0 innings but he didn’t factor in the decision as Christopher Heston took the loss. For Tuesday’s game the Giants start Matt Cain who has allowed 12 hits and eight runs while striking out 10 over 10.2 innings for an 0-1 record and 6.75 ERA.

The Arizona Diamondbacks never gave in on Monday as they rallied to tie the Giants in the ninth inning and win in extra innings. Jake Lamb had three hits including a home run, Jean Segura had three hits, and Wellington Castillo hit a home run as the Diamondbacks scored nine runs on 16 hits. Starting pitcher Archie Bradley allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out two over 4.1 innings to not get the decision as Rubby De La Rosa got the win and Brad Ziegler earned his third save. For Tuesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Robbie Ray who has allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out nine over 12.1 innings for a 2.92 ERA.
Arizona has won four of their last six games against San Francisco.
Cain simply has never ben the same since the injury so laying odds on him isn’t a place I want to be too often and I don’t see this game being much different.
