The Chicago Cubs butt heads in game two of their series at the Cincinnati Reds.

The Chicago Cubs opened their series at Great American Ball park in convincing fashion with a 16-0 victory. The offense was obviously impressive but not as impressive as Jake Arrieta who tossed a complete game no hitter with four walks. The Cubbies offense went crazy with 18 hits with Kris Bryant smacking two homers including a grand slam while Anthony Rizzo cracked a three run jack. Ben Zobrist and David Ross also went deep with only one player unable to reach base.Veteran left hander Jon Lester gets the starting assignment versus the Cincinnati Reds. Lester was a tough luck loser in a 2-0 defeat to Colorado with a lone run scored over 7.1 frames while striking out ten.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs - 4/22/16 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Not one thing went favorably for the Cincinnati Reds Thursday with both the work on the mound and at the plate equally struggling. Starter Brandon Finnegan gave up five runs through four frames to absorb the loss but it didn’t matter with four relievers charged with a combined eleven runs on eleven hits and five bases on balls. The Reds offense had the misfortune of running in to a spot on Jake Arrieta with four bases on balls the only positive with Scott Schebler coaxing two free passes. Cincinnati turns to Jon Moscot on the mound hoping he can even the series against the dangerous Cubs. Moscot comes off a 4-3 loss at St. Louis with three runs plated on six hits and two homers in 5.2 innings.

The Cubs are 60-27 in their last 87 overall and are 60-27 in their last 87 games on grass while going  38-18 in their last 56 road games. Cincinnati are 8-24 in their last 32 Friday games and  are 21-43 in their last 64 overall while going  21-43 in their last 64 games on grass. The Cubs are 19-7 in the last 26 meetings. I’m not the biggest fan of Lester but I will back the Cubs who I think will need runs for their lefty…
