The slumping Houston Astros look to get back in the win column as they continue their series with the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.
The Red Sox continue their series in Houston on Saturday and they couldn’t be happier after a great effort last night in which they piled up 15 hits and six runs as Colin McHugh took another loss and while Steven Wright wasn’t pretty he netted the victory and gave Boston their eighth win of the year. Boston has been a little slow out of the gates themselves this year but have high hopes this season and have played well away from Fenway as they have four wins in six tries and are in a good spot once again on Saturday as they face off against Mike Fiers who has high strikeout numbers but usually gets hit hard and this is not the lineup to have him throwing against. Boston is 7-1 in their last eight contests on a Saturday and are 19-7 in their last 26 following a five plus run effort the day before so there are some nice trends in their favour coming into this one.

The Astros meanwhile have been the league’s biggest disappointment to start the year as they are a meagre 5-12 on the year and haven’t been able to get their rotation or lineup on the same page. Houston was a trendy pick to win the AL pennant this season and while there is still plenty of baseball left to be played there are some whistles going off already as they have some gaping holes in their lineup and haven’t gotten the start out of Dallas Kuechel they expected. Houston is 2-6 in their last eight games against a righty and are 1-5 in Fiers’ last six which doesn’t bode well for them here against a Red Sox team that can hit for contact. While Clay Buchholz isn’t much of an upgrade I think he will do enough to keep the Astros at bay once again.
