The Milwaukee Brewers look to slow down the Chicago Cubs when they visit Wrigley Field Tuesday night.
The Milwaukee Brewers had been scoring and losing with three consecutive defeats before outscoring Philadelphia 8-5 Sunday. Brewers starter Wily Peralta was solid with four runs plated (three earned) on seven hits over six frames to improve to 1-3. The Brew Crew amassed 12 hits and received a two run jack from Alex Pressley with Ryan Braun and Scooter Gennett clubbing solo homers. Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 2-4 with two RBI’s and a run while Chris Carter was 3-4 with a pair of runs. Jimmy Nelson shoots for his 4th win when the Milwaukee Brewers send him to the hill Tuesday. Nelson comes off of a 10-5 win versus Minnesota where he was charged with four rubs on ten hits including a pair of homeruns in 6.2 innings.

The Chicago Cubs have been getting winning performances from both their arms and bats and that has led to victories in three of four after routing Cincinnati 9-0 on Sunday. It was 8-0 by the third inning but Cubs starter Jason Hammel didn’t need all the help. Hammel improved to 3-0 with a three hit shutout through six innings while the Cubbies offense supported him with 14 hits and four bases on balls. Anthony Rizzo led Chicago with a pair of jacks and knocked in four with Tommy La Stella going deep on a 3-5 afternoon and scoring three times. Jason Heyward went 4-5 with three RBI’s and a run as every starter but two reached base. The Chicago Cubs are scheduled to start Kyle Hendricks against visiting Milwaukee in the series opener. Hendricks comes off a 5-3 loss at St. Louis where he gave up four runs on seven hits and two BB in 5.1 frames.
The over is 23-8-3 in Milwaukee’s last 34 road games and the Brewers are 3-7 in their last 10 Tuesday games while the over is 38-18-6 in their last 62 overall. The Cubs are 29-11 in their last 40 Tuesday games and are 29-12 in their last 41 home games while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 games following a win. Milwaukee are 7-21 in the last 28 meetings and the under is 13-5 in the last 18 meetings in Chicago. Nelson might be the best the Brewers have and Hendricks might be a weak link for the Cubs but I’m hoping the Chicago bats come to play…
