Citi Field and the New York Mets battle the Cincinnati Reds in game two of their series.
The Cincinnati Reds knew they needed to play nearly a perfect game to beat Noah Syndergaard and the Mets and did until the bullpen faltered late. Raisel Iglesias kept his team competitive with three runs plated on eight hits and a pair of BB before JC Ramirez gave up two runs in the 7th to take the loss. Cincinnati mustered eight hits and a walk with Zack Cosart driving in a pair of runs while Joey Votto smacked a run scoring single. Cincinnati turns to Brandon Finnegan for the game two start versus the Mets who he has never faced. Finnegan comes in off of a 16-0 loss to the Cubs where he was charged with five runs on seven hits in four frames.

The New York Mets were almost declared the winner before the first pitch was thrown but they blew an early lead and broke a 3-3 tie to squeeze out the victory. Mets starter Noah Syndergaard was charged with three runs on seven hits while striking out nine through 6.2 innings with four relievers keeping the Reds scoreless. New York managed ten hits and walked three times with Lucas Duda and Neil Walker both going 2-4 with two run homers while Michael Comforto went3-3 with a solo jack and three runs. Veteran Bartolo Colon gets the call to the mound for the Mets on Tuesday. Colon threw the ball well in a 5-4 loss at Philadelphia with three runs plated on four hits in six innings.
Cincinnati are 2-7 in their last 9 Tuesday games and the under is 6-2 in their last 8 Tuesday games while the Reds are 39-85 in their last 124 road games. The Mets are 1-7 in Colon’s last 8 home starts and Cincinnati are 3-13 in the last 16 meetings. I don’t think this is a sure thing and Colon will have to continue his hot work on the mound or the Reds could win…
