Over at Citi Field on Wednesday, we’ve got a nice-looking matchup coming between the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Mets.
This will be the game three finale of the series. On Monday in the opener, the Mets took a 5-3 victory. In Tuesday’s game, New York posted a dynamic come-from-behind win, scoring all of their runs in the seventh inning for a 4-3 result.

On Wednesday, the Reds are set to be bringing out right-hander Jon Moscot. During his two starts this year, Moscot has been pretty shaky with a 5.06 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. Back on Friday in his last appearance, Moscot put up four runs (three earned) in five innings on three hits and four walks.
This year’s top Reds batting performers feature a few names you’ll recognize and some you may not. Leading the way is Eugenio Suarez, who has 14 runs, 14 RBI and five homers. Suarez came up empty on Tuesday, however. Jay Bruce has logged 18 hits with nine runs, four homers and 15 RBI, but is currently on the paternity list. As for Joey Votto, he’s sitting on 15 hits, 11 RBI and an ugly .205 BA after an 0-for-1 line on Tuesday (two walks; one strikeout).
Over on the Mets side, we’ll be seeing right-hander Matt Harvey on Wednesday. It’s been a tough road thus far for Harvey, who hasn’t lived up to his early-season billing with a 5.24 ERA and 1.57 WHIP. In his most recent outing Friday against the Braves, Harvey struggled once again (but still managed the win) through 101 pitches of five-inning, two-run ball.
At the plate, we’re starting to see some of that trademark Mets power here and there. Neil Walker has been great so far, with eight homers and 14 RBI. Walker went 0-for-4 Tuesday. Lucas Duda is also hitting well on four homers and 14 RBI. Yoenis Cespedes has tallied six homers, 17 RBI and 12 runs thus far. Cespedes nailed a three-run homer on Tuesday to get the Mets the victory.
The Reds are just 1-4 in Moscot’s last five starts, and 22-48 in their last 70 overall. As for the Mets, they’re only 1-5 in Harvey’s last six starts, but 10-0 in their last 10 against the National League Central.
Given the pitching matchup here, things could turn into a high-scoring mess in a hurry. That said, I’m going to side with Harvey and the Mets in this one and just assume he’ll get his mechanics figured out well enough for the win.
