The Detroit Tigers travel to Target Field to open a series with the Minnesota Twins on Friday night.

The Detroit Tigers need to climb up the standings in the American League Central standings and took a step in that direction with a 7-3 victory versus visiting Oakland Thursday afternoon. Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez improved to 3-2 with a pair of runs plated on three hits and seven walks while striking out nine over 5.2 frames. The Tigers offense pounded out eleven hits and walked five times with Anthony Gose leading the way with a homer, two RBI’s and two runs while Ian Kinsler drove in a run and scored twice followed by Miguel Cabrera with an RBI and run. Michael Fulmer makes his major league debut for the Detroit Tigers in the series opener at Target Field.  Fulmer  was in AAA Toledo where he was 1-1 in three outings with a 4.11 ERA.

Minnesota Twins vs. Detroit Tigers - 4/29/16 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Minnesota Twins are off to a dreadfully slow start which has them sitting in the basement of the American League Central. The Twins were shooting for a third straight win and a sweep of visiting Cleveland on Wednesday but struggled on the mound in a 6-5 defeat. Highly routed rookie Jose Berrios was tagged for five runs on six hits and a pair of free passes through four innings to lose his major league debut. The Minnesota attack nearly saved the day on nine hits and three walks with Byung Ho Park launching a two run homer while Danny Santana and Miguel Sano each knocked in runs and scored. The Minnesota Twins hope for another quality start from Phil Hughes when the Tigers visit on Friday. Hughes was a hard luck 2-0 loser at Washington last time out with both runs allowed on six hits and two walks in seven frames.

Detroit are 3-10 in their last 13 Friday games and the over is 14-5 in their last 19 games following a win while going  40-19-4 in the Tigers last 63 road games. The over is 7-2-1 in Minnesota’s last 10 overall and  is 7-2-1 in their last 10 on grass while the Twins  are 6-2 in their last 8 home games. I have no idea what we’ll see from Fulmer so either team could be risky but I’ll take the known…
