The Detroit Tigers look to continue swinging some hot bats as they continue their series at Target Field against the Minnesota Twins.
The Tigers look to keep pace in the AL Central with another road win against the Twins on Saturday as they send former Nationals pitcher Jordan Zimmermann to the mound who has been one of the feel good stories of the early part of the MLB season. The Tigers have one of the best lineups in baseball but are considered to be too old in some circles as they have some aging bodies who could be in the final stretch with this core in the Motor City but they are dangerous as ever in the batter’s box and have some very formidable arms in the rotation. Zimmermann will look to move to 5-0 and maintain his sparkling 0.35 ERA as he will face off against Tyler Duffey who has yet to factor into a decision and has an ERA of 2.25.

The Twins meanwhile have struggled to start the season and don’t appear to be in the running to challenge for a playoff spot this season as they have some gaping holes in the lineup and play in the competitive AL Central. Minnesota does have some pop in the batter’s box but they don’t have a ton on the rubber and against teams like the Tigers I think they will struggle to keep the ball in the yard like we saw yesterday.
The Tigers are 4-0 in Zimmermann’s last four starts but are 1-4 in their last five against the AL Central while the Twins are 5-1 in their last six against a team with a winning road record, are 7-18 in their last 25 overall and 2-10 in their last 12 against the AL Central. Detroit is clearly the better team here and while Zimmermann is due for a blow up I don’t see it here against the light hitting Twins.
