The Oakland Athletics host the Seattle Mariners in American League West action Monday.
The Seattle Mariners know that losing games are no big deal but losing streaks are and that means a bounce back win from Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to visiting Kansas City would be just what the doctor ordered. The pitching was fine but the offense was nowhere to found which is often the case with this team. Mariners starter Taijuan Walker gave up three runs (two earned) while four relievers allowed one run in four frames. The M’s attack featured eight hits and a trio of free passes with Chris Iannetta driving in Seth Smith with the lone run. The Seattle Mariners send Nathan Karns to the hill to open the series at Oakland on Monday. Karns is coming off of an 11-1 victory versus Houston where he tossed a two hit shutout over seven frames.

Athletics starter was outstanding in a losing effort that saw him allow both runs on two hits and four free passes through six innings. The A’s bats totaled eight hits and walked once with Marcus Semien singling in Chris Coughlan with the only run. The Oakland Athletics give the game one start to Kendall Graveman Monday. Graveman comes off of a 7-3 loss at Detroit with six runs plated on ten hits in 4.2 innings.
Seattle are 3-12 in their last 15 Monday games and the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 road games while going 10-4-1 in the Mariners last 15 overall. The over is 14-4-3 in Oakland’s last 21 Monday games and the over is 7-2-1 in their last 10 overall while the Athletics are 8-3 in their last 11 games on grass. If I were to bet this which I’m not I’d go with the M’s…
