The Miami Marlins hope to stay hot when the Arizona Diamondbacks pay a visit to south Florida.
The Arizona Diamondbacks can not afford to fall to far behind in the National League West race but defeats in seven of ten haven’t helped. Both the arms and bats faltered in a Zona’s 6-3 loss to visiting Colorado on Sunday with starter Shelby Miller giving up three runs on four hits and four free passes over 3.2 frames dropping him to 0-3 with the relief corps giving up three runs. The Diamondbacks totaled eleven hits and two walks with Brandon Drury going 3-3 with a homer and three runs while Yasmany Tomas and Chris Hermann recorded RBI singles. Left hander Patrick Corbin looks to find a groove when he opposes the Marlins Tuesday. In back to back outings Corbin has been charged with 12 runs on 14 hits including four homeruns in 11.2 innings.

The Miami Marlins had won seven in a row where both the arms and bats had been contributing. The Marlins hot streak ended in a 14-5 loss at Milwaukee where the Fish trailed 9-1 after three innings and were never able to rebound. Miami starter Tom Koehler was charged with eight runs on eight hits through 2.1 frames with Cody Ege coming on to give up three runs on six hits over 1.2 innings. The Fish continued to hit the ball with 16 hits with Marcell Ozuna going solo with Derek Dietrich going 3-4 with a pair of RBI’s and a run. The Miami Marlins are scheduled to start Justin Nicolini to the hill to face the Diamondbacks for the first time in his career. In his only start of 2016, Nicolini defeated the Dodgers 2-0 on the road with a two hitter over 7.1 frames.
The over is 5-2-1 in Arizona’s last 8 overall and the over is 5-2-1 in their last 8 on grass while the Diamondbacks are 8-3 in Corbin’s last 11 Tuesday starts. Miami are 7-1 in their last 8 overall and are 7-1 in their last 8 games on grass while the Marlins are 2-7 in their last 9 home games. The under is 14-5 in the last 19 meetings. Miami off a long road trip makes me wonder about this one…
