The Pittsburgh Pirates look to slowdown the Chicago Cubs in Tuesday’s battle at PNC Park.

The Chicago Cubs have yet to hit a slow patch and didn’t in the series opener at Pittsburgh with solid pitching and hitting being a great combination in a 7-2 victory on Monday. Cubs starter Jason Hammel allowed both runs on five hits over five frames with four relievers putting up zeros. The Cubbies pounded out eleven hits and walked five times with David Ross and Ben Zobrist driving in a pair of runs apiece while Anthony Rizzo scored twice and drove in a run. The Chicago Cubs send unbeaten Jake Arrieta to the bump to face the rival Pirates Tuesday. Arrieta improved to 5-0 in a7-2 win versus Milwaukee where he gave up a run on three hits and four BB in five frames.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs - 5/3/16 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Pittsburgh Pirates will be looking to even their series against the visiting Cubs on Tuesday but they will need better performances on the mound and at the plate. Pirates starter Gerrit Cole struggled early with six runs allowed on six hits and four base on balls through 4.2 innings to absorb the loss. The Buccos attack was held to seven hits and a trio of base on balls with Andrew McCutchen providing all the offense with a two run homer that plated Jordy Mercer who went 3-3. Jon Niese looks to work some kinks out when the Pittsburgh Pirates hand him the ball for Tuesday’s outing versus the Cubs. Niese has been hit hard the past two times out with nine runs allowed on 20 hits and four walks in 10.1 innings.

The over is 6-1-2 in the Cubs last 9 overall and  is 6-1-2 in their last 9 on grass while Chicago  are 36-15 in their last 51 overall. The over is 14-5 in Pittsburgh’s last 19 overall and  is 14-5 in their last 19 on grass while the Pirates  are 51-24 in their last 75 home games. Arrieta might not be the best pitcher in the game but I think he is…
