The Tampa Bay Rays visit the west coast to open a series at the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night.
The Tampa Bay Rays don’t have a big time offense that can win games when the work on the mound falters but it did Wednesday in an 8-5 victory versus the visiting Dodgers. Rays starter Drew Smyly gave his team five innings with two runs plated on five hits and a pair of BB before Enny Romero made the TB fans squirm a bit with three runs allowed on three hits and three walks in two frames. Tampa Bay totaled ten hits and two walks and did plenty of damage on long balls from Brandon Guyer, Steven Souza, Curt Casali and Steve Pearce. The Tampa Bay Rays open the series on the mound with Chris Archer who has struggled early this year. Archer has faced the Angels three times on the road and has gone 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA.
