The Tampa Bay Rays look to build on their road win in LA yesterday as they continue their series against the Angels on Sunday afternoon.
The Rays look for a repeat effort after a late game surge gave them an impressive 4-2 win on the road against the Angels last night and they will turn to Matt Andriese to get them there as he will face off against Nick Tropeano who is 1-1 with a 3.42 ERA. Tampa Bay doesn’t have the deepest roster but they certainly have some very nice pieces and with nobody seemingly taking the reigns in the AL East they are very much in the mix right now and if they grab another win here against the Angels it would move them to .500 through their first 28 games.

The Angels head into this game with a 13-15 record but are very much still in the fold in the AL West as the disappointing Astros haven’t been able to live up to expectations and the Rangers, A’s, and Mariners are battling it out at the top but LA is still in the picture. The Angels still have a very daunting lineup led by Mike Trout and can beat you a number of different ways but don’t see, to have the rotation to keep up with the bats and as such I think they will struggle to make the playoffs and could very well land in the bottom of the division by season’s end.
The Rays are 4-1 in their last five against the AL West and 6-13 in their last 19 against a team with a losing home record while the Angels are 1-8 in their last nine against a team with a losing record, 0-4 in their last four against the AL East, and 0-5 in their last five home games against a team with a losing record. This should be an interesting matchup but in the end I like the home team to rebound after a sluggish ninth inning last night and with Tropeano going I like Los Angeles.
