The Philadelphia Phillies look to stay in the NL East conversation when they visit the Atlanta Braves Tuesday.
The Philadelphia Phillies are trying to make up some ground in the National League East and took a few steps in that direction with consecutive wins at Miami after knocking off the Marlins 6-5 Sunday. Phils starter Aaron Nola allowed three runs on six hits over six frames but did not get a decision when Andrew Baily allowed two runs in 1/3 of an inning for a blown save. The Phillies offense totaled ten hits and walked twice with Tyler Goeddel doubling in a pair of runs with Cesar Hernandez going 2-5 with an RBI and run. The Philadelphia Phillies send Adam Morgan to the hill for the third time when he opposes Atlanta. In two outings, Morgan has been charged with six runs on eleven hits and a trio of BB in nine frames.

The Atlanta Braves have already fallen so far behind the rest of the National League East that they don’t have a chance to make a run at the top. The Braves have dropped four in a row after a 5-3, 13 inning loss to the visiting Diamondbacks on Sunday. Bravos starter Michael Foltynewicz gave his team a chance with a pair of runs scored in seven innings but Jim Johnson surrendered a two run homer in the 11th to fall to 0-4. The Atlanta offense had opportunities on eleven hits and and five free passes with Jeff Francoeur knocking in two and Tyler Flowers driving in another that tied the game with a three run 8th. Matt Wisler gets the ball from the Atlanta Braves looking for another big start Tuesday. Wisler is coming off his best career start in a 3-0 road win versus the Mets with a one hitter over eight innings.
Philadelphia are 6-2 in their last 8 games following a win and the over is 18-7-3 in their last 28 Tuesday games while the Phillies are 12-5 in their last 17 overall. Atlanta are 21-54 in their last 75 overall and are 21-54 in their last 75 games on grass while going 17-35 in their last 52 Tuesday games. The Phillies are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings in Atlanta. Wisler is the better pitcher but the Phillies are the better team. Probably risky but just taking the better odds...
