The Minnesota Twins host the Baltimore Orioles at Target Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The Baltimore Orioles maintained their position in the American League East on the strength of a 5-3 win at Target Field Tuesday. Late scoring and a solid effort on the mound was a solid combination with Orioles starter Kevin Gausman allowing all three runs with three relievers keeping the Twins off the scoreboard. The O’s racked up 14 hits and two walks with Adam Jones going solo and cracking a two run double in the 9th while Manny Machado homered and scored twice. The Baltimore Orioles give Wednesday’s start to Tyler Wilson who sees the Twins for the first time in his career. Wilson is coming off of a 7-0 loss to the Yankees with three runs plated (two earned) on four hits and three BB in six frames.

The Minnesota Twins never got their offense going and the Orioles took advantage Tuesday. Twins starter Jose Berrios gave up three runs on eight hits including a pair of long balls through five innings for a no decision while Kevin Jepsen absorbed the loss when he allowed three hits and a two run double in the 9th. Minnesota never got untracked at the plate with six hits and a pair of free passes to their credit with Trevor Plouffe driving in all three runs with a double and two run homer while Eduardo Nunez and Brian Dozier scored. The Minnesota Twins hand the ball to Phil Hughes who faces the Orioles for the second time in 2016. Hughes has dropped back to back decisions with ten runs plated on 13 hits and four walks over seven innings.
