The Tampa Bay Rays look to grab a win in Seattle on Wednesday night as the Mariners aim to keep their offense rolling against Chris Archer.
The Rays head into tonight’s game looking for a better effort out of their starting pitcher and they send their ace to the mound to do it as Archer gets the start despite a sluggish start from the young flamethrower. Tampa was 15-15 heading into Tuesday night’s game but are still very much in the fold in the AL East and with Archer out to prove he is worthy of ace status the Rays should be confident in the fact they can get a win despite facing off against Taijuan Walker who has been excellent so far this season.

The Mariners were 19-13 heading into last night’s affair and put up runs early and often on Tuesday and now with Walker going for them they should be considered favourites to get the victory here. Seattle is led by Robinson Cano who is having a fantastic start to the season and with guys like Kyle Seager and Nelson Cruz in the lineup they are not short on power at the plate and with a pretty solid rotation to boot they are certainly in the running for a playoff spot.
The Rays are 6-2 in their last eight against the AL West, 1-5 in Archer’s last six road starts, and 0-7 in his last seven Wednesday starts while the M’s are 4-1 in their last five against the AL East, 14-2 in their last 16 Walker starts following a team loss, and 5-1 in his last six Wednesday starts. Chris Archer is much better than his record indicates but something is wrong right now and with Walker going on the other side I think Seattle gets the win.
