The Oakland Athletics head to the Sunshine State to face the Tampa Bay Rays Friday.
The Oakland Athletics are in desperate need of a shift in momentum following a five game slide capped off by a 13-3 loss at Boston on Wednesday. The Athletics never got their arms and bats going with starter Eric Surkamp giving up four runs over 2.2 frames to fall to 0-3. Four relievers combined to allow nine runs as the Red Sox are hitting everything lately. The A’s mustered eight hits and three walks with Khris Davis leading the way wit two RBI’s while Yonder Alonso doubled in another. Rich Hill looks to give fading Oakland a boost when he takes the mound on Friday at Tampa Bay. Hill is coming off of an 8-4 win at Baltimore where he allowed a single run on two hits and three BB in 5.1 frames.

TB ace Chris Archer was charged with four runs on five hits and four free passes through five innings with Steven Geltz absorbing the loss on a walk off homer. The Rays totaled ten hits and six walks with Cory Dickerson smacking a grand slam and Kevin Kiermaier cracking a solo jack. The Tampa Bay Rays send Jake Odorizzi to the hill to oppose the visiting Athletics. Odorizzi picked up a 4-2 decision at the Angels last time out with a pair of runs scored on five hits over six innings.
