The Kansas City Royals look to build on their convincing victory at home yesterday as they continue their series with the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.
The Braves continue a weekend set with the reigning World Series champions in Kansas City as they send Michael Foltynewicz to the bump as they look for just their ninth victory of the season in 35 games and with the way things have gone so far there isn’t a ton of optimism in the Peach State for baseball. Atlanta is sitting in the NL East basement and will be hard pressed to play their way out of their this season as both the Mets and Nationals are destined for the playoffs and with teams like Miami and Philadelphia in front of them already they are looking like a team ready for a complete overhaul as opposed to the dynasty of the 90’s and early 2000’s.

The Royals got themselves back in the win column on Friday night and will send Dillon Gee to the mound looking for their second in as many days as they chase down the .500 mark in what has been a disappointing start for the champs. KC suffered a bit of a championship hangover as they lost some pieces from their team last season including Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist but they still have a very nice group and should be able to turn things around in a hurry and a series with the Braves is a great way to get that process started.
Atlanta is 8-3 in their last 11 against the AL Central, 9-25 in their last 34 interleague road games, and 3-13 in their last 16 games on a Saturday while the Royals are 17-7 in their last 24 interleague home games, 40-19 in their last 59 home games against a righty, but 2-6 in their last eight during game two of a series. This Braves side is terrible and aside from Freddie Freeman there really isn’t much appeal and even with a wash on the mound I like the Royals to get it done.
