The Boston Red Sox visit Kauffman Stadium to face off with the Kansas City Royals.
The Boston Red Sox have been lighting up the scoreboard and the victories have been piling up. The Red Sox defeated Houston 10-9 Sunday in an old fashioned scorefest because the defense and starting pitching struggled and the bats came to the rescue. Boston starter Sean O’Sullivan was charged with six runs (five earned) on five hits including a pair of homers over 4.1 frames with the pen allowing three more unearned runs. The Red Sox pounded out 14 hits and walked three times with Xander Bogaerts smacking a three run homer while Ryan Hanigan went 3-4 with four runs driven in and two scored. The Red Sox kick off their series at Kauffman Stadium with Rick Porcello on the mound. Porcello is coming off of a 13-3 win versus Oakland with all three runs allowed on six hits and a pair of BB over 6.2 innings.

The Kansas City Royals have yet to look like the defending World champions but perhaps Sunday’s 4-2, 13 inning victory versus Atlanta is a spark going forward. Royals starter Danny Duffy threw three scoreless frames with five relievers following suit before Wade Davis blew a 2-0 lead with two runs plated in the 9th to send the game to extras. KC mustered eleven hits with Alcides Escobar driving in a run and scoring twice while Kendrys Morales smacked a two run walk off homer in the 13th. The Royals send Yordano Ventura to the hill to cool off the Boston bats on Monday. Ventura defeated the Yankees 7-3 last time out with all three runs scored on six hits and three BB over six frames.
Boston are 7-3 in their last 10 Tuesday games. The under is 12-4 in Kansas City’s last 16 home games and the over is 8-3 in their last 11 overall while going 8-3 in their last 11 on grass. The over is 7-1-1 in the last 9 meetings and Boston are 10-4 in the last 14 meetings. I’m backing the Red Sox and hoping the bats keep churning out the runs…
