The Atlanta Braves look to find their groove and get back in the win column as they head into PNC Park to face off against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Braves take their lowly 9-26 mark to the road to face off against one of the best in the National League in the Pittsburgh Pirates who are looking to improve on their relatively slow start to the year. Atlanta hasn’t been able to get anything going so far this season and are sitting around a spot where most people anticipated to see them this season as they simply don’t have the roster to be competitive in the high octane NL East with teams like the Mets, Marlins, and Nationals running the show. Atlanta will look to get another solid outing out of Williams Perez who is 1-0 with a 3.54 ERA as he will face off against Jonathan Niese who is 3-2 with a 5.82 ERA.

The Pirates are 19-17 so far this season and are still one of the better teams in the National League and while there is a ton of baseball left to be played they are already well behind the Chicago Cubs for the NL Central lead and might at this rate be competing for a wild card spot. The Pirates have a very good squad in all aspects but need to find a bit ore consistency as they seem to have off nights too frequently right now and with a team like Atlanta in town they need to take full advantage and grab a series win here.
The Braves are 23-58 in their last 81 games overall, 6-1 in Perez’ last seven starts, and 0-5 in their last five Monday games while the Pirates are 40-13 in their last 53 home games against an opponent with a losing road record, 0-4 in their last four home games, and 48-22 in their last 70 against the NL East. Atlanta is a mess right now and aside from Freddie Freeman they don’t have much at the plate to give Niese any trouble and as such I like the Pirates to win comfortably.
