The Milwaukee Brewers shoot for consecutive wins against the visiting Chicago Cubs.
The Chicago Cubs have run roughshod over the opposition since the season began but I don’t know if we are beginning to see some chinks in their armor after Tuesday’s 4-2 defeat at Milwaukee has the team staring defeats in four of six. Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks struggled with all four runs plated on five hits and a pair of free passes over 5.1 frames to fall to 2-3. The dangerous Cubbies lineup was quiet with three hits and didn’t score until the 9th when Jason Heyward and Kris Bryant hit solo homers. The Cubs turn to veteran John Lackey for Wednesday’s start at Miller Park. Lackey has been consistent and productive with a 4-2 record and 0.97 WHIP with a 3.54 ERA.

The Milwaukee Brewers are in the toughest division in baseball and are just trying to keep their heads above water and let the chips fall where they will. Baseball once again proved to be unpredictable when a struggling Chase Anderson looked like Cy Young for the Brewers with a shutout heading to the 9th before allowing two solo shots and finishing with an 8.2 inning masterpiece. The Brew Crew didn’t crush the ball with five hits and a pair of bases on balls but a solo shot off the bat of Jonathan Lucroy and two RBI’s from Chris Carter were enough to get the job done. Jimmy Nelson toes the rubber for the Brewers hoping to control the dangerous Cubs offense in Wednesday’s match up. Nelson has been the Brewers best starter with a 4-3 record and 3.51 ERA.
The over is 7-0-1 in the Cubs last 8 road games and is 15-5-2 in their last 22 overall while going 15-5-2 in their last 22 on grass. The over is 8-3-1 in Milwaukee’s last 12 home games and is 10-4 in Nelson’s last 14 starts on grass while going 10-4 in Nelson’s last 14 starts overall. Chicago are 21-6 in the last 27 meetings and the under is 33-16-2 in the last 51 meetings. Too much chalk for me so I’ll just watch but…
