The Washington Nationals look to keep things rolling after absolutely thrashing the Mets yesterday as they head into Miami to face off against the Marlins.
The Nationals got another solid effort from Stephen Strasburg and absolutely lit up Matt Harvey in a 9-1 victory and can extend their strong start to the season against the Marlins on Friday when they send Tanner Roark to the mound to face off against Justin Nicolino. The Nats have one of the deepest rosters in baseball led by Bryce Harper and with their rotation boasting two of the game’s very best in Strasburg and Max Scherzer they are certainly capable of going on a deep playoff push in the National League and have to be considered co-favourites to win the pennant at this point with the Cubs.

The Marlins meanwhile head into Friday night’s contest looking to win their 22nd game of the season and to stay in the race in the National League East with the Nats and Mets but with the way their opponents tonight are playing they know they will have their work cut out for them. The Marlins suffered a huge blow when they lost Dee Gordon to suspension and it has derailed some talk of them being a World Series contender, but with Giancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich both having strong starts to the year they are still a team to watch out for. The Marlins send Nicolino to the mound who will look to move to 3-1 and lower his ERA down from 3.75.
The Nats are 5-0 in their last five road starts against a lefty, 4-1 in their last five Friday games, but 3-13 in Roarks last 16 starts on grass while the Marlins are 6-1 in their last seven series openers, 7-3 in their last 10 home games, and 1-4 in their last five following an off day. Washington is on another level right now and are coming off a huge win last night and while Roark is not Strasburg I think he is capable of getting them a win tonight as the road team keeps it going.
