Washington is scheduled to start Joe Ross in game two of their series at the Marlins on Saturday. Ross has struggled the last three times out with an 0-3 record and 4.91 ERA in 20 innings.

The Marlins know each loss or win is crucial and Friday’s defeat was number three in a row and cost them a game in the standings. Miami starter Justin Nicolini was charged with all four runs on six hits including a pair of homers through 5.1 innings to fall to 2-1. The Fish mustered nine hits and walked twice with the lone run coming on a long ball off the bat of Marcell Ozuna. The Marlins are hoping for another strong performance on the mound from ace Jose Fernandez who will oppose Washington for the third time in 2016. Overall Fernandez is 5-2 with a 1.26 WHIP and 3.21 ERA.
