The Los Angeles Angels go on the road to battle the Texas Rangers in an AL West tilt on Monday.
The Los Angeles Angels began the season on the slow side but seemed to have picked up their game lately. The Angels ended a two game skid in style in a 10-2 rout of visiting Baltimore on Sunday. LAA starter Jered Weaver turned back the clock with both runs allowed on five hits and a BB over seven frames to up his record to 4-3. Los Angeles racked up 13 hits and walked three times with Carlos Perez leading the way with three hits including a homer with five RBI’s with Johnny Giavotella driving in two and scoring while Albert Pujols and CJ Cron scored twice each and knocked in a run. The Angels kick off the series at Texas with Nicholas Tropeano on the mound. Tropeano comes off of a 8-1 victory at the Dodgers with the lone run plated on seven hits and a pair of BB over seven innings.

The Texas Rangers have been hovering around .500 the past few weeks and that needs to improve to challenge in the AL West. The Rangers swept away the Astros 9-2 on Sunday for their third win in a row to keep with dominant efforts on the mound and at the plate. Texas ace Cole Hamels improved to 5-0 with two runs allowed (one earned) on five hits while striking out eleven through eight innings. The Rangers amassed 13 hits with Nomar Mazara going deep and driving in three with Adrian Beltre and Bobby Wilson knocking in two each while Prince Fielder and Ryan Rua scored twice each. The Rangers counter with Derek Holland on the bump for his third outing versus the Angels in 2016. Holland comes off of a 3-1 loss at Oakland with two runs allowed on three hits and a walk in six frames.
The over is 11-3-2 in the Angels last 16 Monday games and is 6-2-2 in their last 10 road games while going 7-3 in their last 10 overall. The over is 6-1-1 in Texas last 8 home games and is 9-4 in their last 13 overall while going 9-4 in Texas last 13 on grass. Texas are 9-2 in Holland’s last 11 starts versus the Angels and the over is 9-3-2 in the last 14 meetings in Texas. I’m leaning the Rangers even though Tropeano could pose a problem…
