The Boston Red Sox open an interleague series versus the Colorado Rockies at Fenway Park.
The Colorado Rockies are hovering around the .500 mark yet are still second in the National League West. The Rockies have to do better to chase down San Francisco but took a step back in a 6-3 loss at Pittsburgh Monday afternoon. Colorado starter Jordan Lyles was charged with all six runs (four earned) on five hits and three walks over 2.1 frames to fall to 1-2. The Rockies managed seven hits and a free pass with Charlie Blackmon going 2-4 with two RBI’s while DJ LeMathieu knocking in a run and scoring. Jorge De La Hoya looks to give the Rockies a boost on the mound against the Red Sox Tuesday. De La Hoya has struggled the past two times out with eight runs allowed on eleven hits and four BB over five innings.

The Boston Red Sox have been playing well for weeks and that has the team on the verge of first in the American League East. The Red Sox have won three of four following a 5-2 win versus visiting Cleveland with both the arms and bats contributing. Boston starter Rick Porcello allowed both runs on five hits through 5.2 innings with five relievers finishing the job. The Red Sox pounded out 12 hits and walked five times with David Ortiz going 4-4 with a homer and three RBI’s while Xander Bogaerts logged three hits and knocked in a run and scored. Left hander David Price toes the rubber in the series opener against visiting Colorado. Price has won consecutive outings with three runs given up on eleven hits in 14 frames while whiffing 17.
The under is 7-1 in Colorado’s last 8 overall and is 7-1 in their last 8 on grass while the Rockies are 19-57 in their last 76 interleague games. Boston are 11-2 in their last 13 home games and the over is 8-2-2 in their last 12 home games while going 6-2 in their last 8 Tuesday games. I’m going with the hotter team here and a rested one as well…
