The red hot New York Yankees host the last place Toronto Blue Jays in AL East action.
The Toronto Blue Jays are at the bottom of the standings in the American League East neither the arms or bats have been able to win games by their lonesome. The Blue Jays offense came to life Wednesday in an 8-4 victory at New York with the pitching also holding up their end of the bargain. Jays starter Marco Estrada gave up three runs on four hits including a pair of long balls to get the win. Toronto pounded out eleven hits and walked four times with Russell Martin homering twice and driving in three while Michael Saunders cracked a two run bomb. The Blue Jays kick off the series in New York with JA Happ on the mound who faces New York for the second time. Happ comes off a 5-3 loss at Minnesota with three runs allowed on three hits and three BB over 7.1 innings.

The New York Yankees are the hottest team in the American League East but are still in 4th place. It’s time for the Yankees to start a new hot streak after the bats and arms had an off night that ended their six game winning streak. Yanks starter Ivan Nova was charged with four runs on seven hits and a pair of bases on balls through 6.2 innings before Chasen Shreve gave up three runs on a pair of homers in an inning. The Bronx Bombers mustered six hits and walked four times with Chase Headley, Didi Gregorius and Austin Romine each going deep. Veteran left hander CC Sabathia shoots for his third consecutive victory when he toes the rubber versus Toronto. Over his last three outings Sabathia has gone 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA.
The under is 20-5-1 in Toronto last 26 road games and is 16-5 in their last 21 on grass while going 9-3-1 in the Blue Jays last 13 Thursday games. The over is 6-2 in the Yankees last 8 home games and the Yankees are 28-13 in their last 41 Thursday games while the over is 10-3 in Sabathia’s last 13 Thursday starts. Toronto are 16-37 in the last 53 meetings in New York. I don’t have a lot of confidence in either squad to be honest…
