On Tuesday, the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles will be picking up their early-week series once again at Oriole Park.
This will be the second game of the set. In Monday’s opener, the Red Sox scored four runs in the eighth inning on the way to a 7-2 victory.

For Tuesday’s game, the Red Sox will be giving the start to lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. This will be the season debut for Rodriguez, who is coming off the disabled list for this game after a knee injury. On Tuesday in Triple-A Pawtucket, Rodriguez looked solid in seven innings of one-run ball.
Boston doesn’t have much to complain about at the plate. Xander Bogaerts has been on a tear with 75 hits, 42 runs and 30 RBI. Dustin Pedroia has 37 runs with 62 hits and 24 RBI. David Ortiz continues to mash on 14 homers, 47 RBI, 58 hits and 26 runs. Ortiz slapped a solo homer in Monday’s game.
The Orioles will be countering with right-hander Kevin Gausman on Tuesday. In his seven starts and 0-2 record this year, Gausman has a 3.24 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP in 41.2 innings. On Thursday, Gausman fel victim to the long-ball with four runs in five innings against the Astros--all on home runs.
Baltimore doesn’t slouch at the plate, either. Manny Machado has been the team’s best hitter on 62 hits, 38 runs and 29 RBI this year. Mark Trumbo holds a team-high 15 homers with 37 RBI, 56 hits and 28 runs. Jonathan Schoop is right there as well on 47 hits, 19 runs and 28 RBI. Machado, Trumbo and Schoop combined to go just 1-for-11 on Monday.
The Red Sox are 1-4 in Rodriguez’s last five road starts, but 4-1 in Rodriguez’s last five starts overall.
As for the Orioles, they’re 13-4 in their last 17 game twos of a series, and 1-4 in their last five games against a left-handed starter.
It’s tricky to predict what Rodriguez is going to look like right out of the gate, but the Boston offense is cooking well enough to pick a Red Sox victory here.
