The Los Angeles Dodgers look to cool off the Chicago Cubs in Tuesday night action.
The Los Angeles Dodgers might be the only team that has a chance of catching San Francisco in the National League West. Despite Monday’s 2-0 defeat the Dodgers have won six of eight although missed out on picking up a game in the standings. LAD starter Alex Wood threw the ball well with both runs given up on seven hits and a trio of BB over five frames while four relievers put up zeros. The Los Angeles offense was held to a single by Justin Turner with Adrian Gonzalez drawing a walk. The Dodgers are slated to start Scott Kazmir to the mound to face the Cubs for the first time since 2010. Kazmir comes off a 3-1 win versus Cincinnati with the lone run allowed on four hits while striking out 12 over six innings.

The Chicago Cubs have yet to endure a slump of any length although I don’t think they can keep up their torrid pace. Having said that the Cubs have won six in a row after a 2-0 win versus the Dodgers on Monday afternoon where the pitching was front page news. Cubbies starter Jason Hammel allowed the only hit in two innings withfour relievers not allowing a base runner over seven frames. Chicago mustered eight hits and three walks with Jason Heyward driving in a run and scoring while Anthony Rizzo doubled in a run. Jake Arrieta toes the rubber against the visiting Dodgers on Tuesday night. Arrieta comes off his worse start in recent memory in a 9-8 win at St. Louis where he was charged with four runs on seven hits in five frames.
The Dodgers are 6-2 in their last 8 overall and are 6-2 in their last 8 games on grass while going 2-6 in Kazmir’s last 8 starts on grass. The Cubs are 43-16 in their last 59 home games and are 47-19 in their last 66 overall while going 47-19 in their last 66 games on grass. The under is 8-0 in the last 8 meetings and the Dodgers are 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in Chicago. I think Arrieta off a rare bad outing will be looking to rebound…
