The Houston Astros look to replicate yesterday’s victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks as the series shifts back to Texas on Wednesday night.
The Diamondbacks spoiled a great opportunity to grab a win at home against the Astros on Tuesday and now they have to travel to Houston for a Wednesday night show down as they will send Robbie Ray to the mound who will look to bring down 4.50 ERA and improve his 2-4 record as he will face off against Mike FIers who is 3-3 with a 5.20 ERA. The D-backs were dealt a serious blow in the offseason when AJ Pollock went down with a season ending injury but hopes are still high for the Snakes who have a pretty solid lineup led by Paul Goldschmidt and an underachieving het potentially strong rotation led by Zack Greinke and Shelby Miller. Arizona is 3-7 in their last 10 games overall and a disappointing 23-31 this season while the Astros are 24-29 but are heating up with a 7-3 record in their last 10.

The Astros got off to a very slow start but are starting to make a push back to the .500 mark and while they still have a ways to go before they can get back in the conversation with the Mariners and Rangers as AL West contenders they are on the right track right now. Houston has a very strong roster and were considered World Series contenders in the preseason and if they can get their rotation up to speed, especially the struggling Dallas Keuchel they should be able to make a second half charge, especially if they can grab wins against teams like Arizona who they should have no trouble with. Houston will send FIers to the mound here who is susceptible to getting blown up but can also throw smoke and has a high strike out rate and if he puts it together he is very tough to hit.
The Diamondbacks are 5-0 in their last five interleague road games against a team with a losing record, 6-2 in their last eight interleague road games, and 2-6 in their last eight overall while the Astros are 4-0 in their last four overall, 23-5 in their last 28 against the NL West, and 5-1 in their last six following a win. Houston is hot right now and even though FIers is erratic he is up against Ray who hasn’t been very good and I think the Astros get it done again tonight.
