The Line: Milwaukee Brewers +146 / St. Louis Cardinals -156 --- Over/Under: 9 See the Latest Odds
The St. Louis Cardinals look to add another check to the win column on Wednesday night as they continue their series at Miller Park against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Cardinals had their way with the Brewers yesterday as they hung nine runs up and will look to keep the bats rolling tonight as they will send Jaime Garcia to the bump as he will face off against Zach Davies. The Cards aren’t quite having the starts that many expected at the beginning of the season and with the Pirates and Cubs taking over as the top two powers in the division we could very well see the decline of the Cards this season despite sitting three games above the .500 mark and playing pretty well right now. St. Louis does have some very solid pieces in place still and a respectable rotation but they don’t seem to have the same swagger we have come to expect over the years and they could very well miss out on the playoffs altogether this season if they can’t go on a run soon.

The Brewers meanwhile are in the midst of an ugly stretch as well and likely will miss out on the postseason this year as they simply don’t have the horses to stay relevant in one of baseball’s toughest division. Milwaukee is 23-29 this season and will look to get Zach Davies rolling who is a modest 2-3 with a 6.05 ERA and while the rest of the Brewers rotation isn’t much better it is safe to say that Davies’ start has been disappointing and is a reason why they are struggling right now. Jaime Garcia is 4-4 with a 3.47 ERA for the Cardinals who will look to ride the veteran to another victory on Wednesday night and are the odds on favourites to do so in this afternoon affair at Miller Park.
The Cards are 4-0 in their last four road games against a team with a losing record, 7-0 in Garcia’s last seven Wednesday starts, and 8-3 in his last 11 road starts overall while the Brwers are 5-2 in their last seven overall, 12-16 in their last 38 against the NL Central, and 4-11 in their last 15 against a team with a winning road record. The Cards haven’t been great this season but are the better option here as they have the edge on the mound and at the dish and should get a victory on Wednesday afternoon.
