The Baltimore Orioles look to keep their bats red hot as they stay at home to face off with the New York Yankees at Camden Yards on Friday night.
The New York Yankees have been struggling mightily this season but got a nice win on the road against the Tigers last night and they will look to carry that over this weekend in a big AL East show down with the Orioles. New York always finds a way to spend a ton of cash in the offseason but it hasn’t translated to on field success over the last few seasons and this year appears to be another one of those as they are nowhere to be found in the AL standings and aside from their lethal bullpen they don’t have a ton to write home about right now. Nathan Eovaldi is expected to get the start here as he is an impressive 6-2 with a 3.71 ERA while the O’s will send their best to the bump with Chris Tillman getting the nod who is 7-1 with a 2.92 mark.

The Orioles meanwhile have been among the most consistent teams in the league this season and while they have lost a bit of momentum after such a strong start they are still a favourite to win the AL East and should be treated as such with their lineup. The O’s have a ton of pop at the dish with the likes of Manny Machado, Adam Jones, Chris Davis, and Mark Trumbo all in the mix and they are never out of a game so long as those guys are playing and luckily for them they will be today against Eovaldi and the Yanks.
New York is 1-4 in their last five road games, 1-4 in their last five overall, but 8-0 in Eovaldi’s last eight starts on four days rest. The Orioles meanwhile are 5-0 in Tillman’s last five against the AL East, 4-0 in their last four Friday games, and 15-7 in their last 22 against the AL East. This should be an interesting series as the Yanks know they need to rebound in a big way and against a divisional foe it would be big but they don’t have it right now and against Tillman I think they get blown up.
