The Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers begin a three-game series Friday night at Comerica Park.
The Chicago White Sox could use a win after losing six of their last eight games. The White Sox have allowed six runs in their last three games and four or more runs in eight of their last 10 games. The Chicago White Sox have an ERA of 3.40 and have lost seven of their last nine games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Adam Eaton leads Chicago with 57 hits, Jose Abreu has 28 RBI and Todd Frazier has 17 home runs. Carlos Rodon gets the nod, and he’s 2-4 with a 4.24 ERA and 54 strikeouts this season. The Detroit Tigers could use a win after losing five of their last six games. The Tigers have scored 16 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 10 of their last 15 games. The Detroit Tigers offense has been consistent as of late, and they’ve won eight of their last 12 games when scoring more than three runs. Ian Kinsler leads Detroit with 66 hits, Miguel Cabrera has 32 RBI and Nick Castellanos has 10 home runs. Jordan Zimmermann takes the hill, and he’s 7-2 with a 2.52 ERA and 40 strikeouts this season. Zimmermann is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA and eight strikeouts in his career against the White Sox.
The White Sox are 6-2 in their last 8 games following an off day and 1-5 in Rodons last 6 starts. The Tigers are 5-13 in their last 18 Friday games and 7-2 in Zimmermanns last 9 starts. The White Sox are 16-35 in the last 51 meetings in Detroit.
Both of these teams are in a bit of a funk, so who knows which team is going to get going first. However, the White Sox did have the day off on Thursday and are getting plus money. So I see value with the road team here.
