The Cincinnati Reds continue to stay hot at the dish as the took down Gio Gonzalez and the Washington Nationals yesterday and they face off against in Ohio on Saturday.
The Nationals took one on the chin last night after heading in as odds on favourites to deal the Reds another loss but it was the home side that showed up and kept their hot streak alive as they dealt the Nats a 7-2 loss to open this series. Washington will look to get back on track with a better outing on Saturday and they will send their ace in Stephen Strasburg to the mound as he is a perfect 9-0 with a miniscule 2.69 ERA in what is their best chance at getting a victory in their rotation as he has been absolutely sensational to watch this season. The Nats will face off against Dan Straily who has actually been the best option for the Reds this season as he is 3-2 with a 3.43 ERA but he will need his best outing if he is going to go pitch for pitch with Strasburg.

The Reds have won three in a row and will look to chip away after a very slow start to the year and if they can manage a series victory against the Nationals it would give them some confidence moving forward, but again they are in tough here against one of the best pitchers in the league. CIncy doesn’t have a ton of options at the dish beyond former MVP Joey Votto but they have been hitting the ball well over the last week or so and if they can keep it rolling for at least one more game here it would go a long way in giving them a positive frame of mind and possibly get back into the discussion of making the playoffs.
The Nats are 4-1 in their last five road games against a right handed starter, 8-0 in Strasburg’s last eight road starts, and 10-4 in their last 14 road games against a team with a losing home record. The Reds meanwhile are 0-7 in their last seven home games against a righty, 1-5 in their last six against the NL East, and 20-49 in their last 69 games overall. The Reds have been playing a lot better of late but they get sent back to reality here as Strasburg cruises to his 10th win in style.
